UNDER 21 SQUAD FOR GERMANY MATCH

Maurice Malpas has named a new look and young squad for next month's Under 21 international friendly between Scotland and Germany, to give experience to players heading for the summer's FIFA Under 20 World Cup. Aberdeen's Andrew Considine is rewarded for his performances this season with a call up. Scotland play Germany at Broadwood Stadium, Cumbernauld, on Tuesday 6 February with a 6.00 pm kick-off. Admission is £5 for adults, £2 concessions, and the game will also be shown live on Sky Sports.

Only five players - Mulgrew, Quinn, Elliot, Fletcher and Naismith - have played at Under 21 level previously and all but six of the squad will be eligible for the FIFA event. Scotland Under 20s have further matches in the spring in Canada to continue their build-up.

However, the match will also be useful preparation for the next UEFA Under 21 Championship, the draw for which will be made in mid February. This tournament is now run independently of the A international calendar, giving a different set of opponents for the Under 21s.

Scotland Under 21 squad

Goalkeepers Jamie MacDonald (Heart of Midlothian) Andrew McNeil (Hibernian) Defenders Andrew Considine (Aberdeen) Scott Cuthbert (Celtic) Garry Kenneth (Dundee United) Alan Lowing (Rangers) Mark Reynolds (Motherwell) Greg Ross (Dunfermline Athletic) Lee Wallace (Heart of Midlothian) Midfield Jamie Adams (Kilmarnock) Greg Cameron (Dundee United) Ryan Conroy (Celtic) Marc Fitzpatrick (Motherwell) Michael McGlinchey (Celtic) Charles Mulgrew (Wolverhampton W) Rocco Quinn (Celtic) Forwards Calum Elliot (Heart of Midlothian) Steven Fletcher (Hibernian) Steven Naismith (Kilmarnock) David Robertson (Dundee United)

UNDER 19s TRAVEL TO SPAIN FOR TOURNAMENT

Scotland Under 19s will be taking part in the La Manga Tournament in Spain at the beginning of February, and team coach Archie Knox today named a 22 man squad including Andrew Bagshaw and Chris Maguire. RedWeb spoke to both players and they were both delighted to be involved. Andrew said "There are a lot of very good players at U19 level in Scotland at the moment, many of whom are playing regularly for their clubs, so it great to be involved. RedWeb actually broke the news to Chris a short time ago and again he was thrilled at being called up for his country. Despite his outstanding form this season he was not involved in the last squad so he was pleased to be included this time around.

I am sure both players will also be looking forward to warmer weather!

Scotland will face Austria on Sunday 4 February, followed by Slovakia and Norway later in the week. The tournament is a key part of the Under 19s preparation for their UEFA qualifiers in May, a group which Scotland will host to give them every opportunity of reaching the Finals for the second successive season.

Scotland Under 19 squad (players born in 1988 or after) Goalkeepers Alan Martin (Motherwell) Scott Murray (Dundee) Defenders Andrew Cave-Brown (Norwich City) Darren McCormack (Hibernian) Alex Pearce (Reading) Thomas Scobbie (Falkirk) Andrew Shinnie (Rangers) Blair Tolmie (Hibernian) Midfield Scott Arfield (Falkirk) Simon Ferry (Celtic) Ryan Flynn (Liverpool) Steven Lennon (Rangers) Stephen McGinn (St Mirren) Sean Mackle (Heart of Midlothian) Mark Millar (Celtic) Forwards Andrew Bagshaw (Aberdeen) David Goodwillie (Dundee United) David Gray (Manchester United) Rory Loy (Rangers) Chris Maguire (Aberdeen) Fraser McLaren (Gretna) Steven Weir (Livingston)
