"Danny" McKenzie, who now sports the Pittodrie colours, has been out of the game for a few weeks owing to a leg injury, but it is understood that the injured limb is mending well. The Dons could be doing with his services these days.

Daniel played only three first team games for the Dons. In his third, against Dundee at Dens Park, he was seriously injured in a "heavy collision" with Dundee defender Finlay Brown. He had to be carried from the pitch but resumed playing after the interval and completed the match. Sadly, he died as a result of the injury almost a year later on 1st September 1931.
"The death took place in Aberdeen Royal infirmary yesterday of Daniel McKenzie, a young footballer who was on the staff of Aberdeen F.C. for nearly three seasons. McKenzie while playing at outside left for Aberdeen against Dundee at Dens Park on September 20 last year was severely injured, and was removed after the match to Dundee Royal Infirmary, where an operation necessitating the removal of a kidney was performed. McKenzie returned to Aberdeen, and appeared to have recovered from the accident, but he suffered a relapse about a fortnight ago and was removed to the Infirmary. McKenzie who was about 22 years of age, joined Aberdeen F.C. from Parkvale, and was at that time regarded as one of the best outside lefts in Aberdeen junior football. During his first two season at Pittodrie he made occasional appearances in the first eleven, and was promoted to the League team at the beginning of last season."

In December 1931 the Club agreed a figure of £137 in compensation to Daniel's family, under the Workmen's Compensation Act of 1925, having previously paid £154 pounds to Daniel whilst he was still alive.
At the time of his last match, the player had been earning an average of £3 10s per week.
"The funeral of Daniel McKenzie, the Aberdeen footballer, who died in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary as the result of injuries received about a year ago while playing in a Scottish League match against Dundee, at Dundee, took place yesterday at St Peter's Cemetery Aberdeen. Among the many beautiful wreaths was two from the directors and players of the Aberdeen and Dundee Football Clubs. The pall-bearers were members of the Parkvale Football Club, of which the deceased was a member before being signed by the Aberdeen Football Club."
