Profile: |
Full name: David Ross Johnston.
Dave Johnston joined the Dons in season 1966/67 and made a scoring debut in a 6-2 away rout of Stirling Albion on the 17th December 1966.
Died 7th April 2004.
Although Davy was regarded as one of the best players to come out of the Highland League at that time, and despite the fact that he scored a healthy 39 goals in 99 appearances for Aberdeen, things didn't really work out for him and he was transferred to Dundee in 1968 and eventually returned to Nairn. As a part of the Turnbull revolution, Davy is well remembered by Dons fans of a certain vintage.
A detailed biography of Davy is "Pittodrie's Silent Assassin" by Donald Wilson was published in 2010. Died: Inverness, 7th April 2004
