Profile: |
When Black joined Aberdeen from a spell in United States football, there was an administrative dispute as he had violated his contract with Providence FC and was suspended in the USA and thus, under the Helsingfors Agreement, he had to be suspended in Scotland too. Although Aberden argued the case for paying the player during his suspension this was rejected by the SFA at a meeting in November 1927 and he had to serve out his supension unpaid. The suspension was finally lifted on 7th December 1927.
Jimmy was one of five players linked to the "Great Mystery" at Pittodrie in 1931 and was moved on by the Club although he protested his innocence until his premature death in Edinburgh on 12th April 1933.
