Profile: |
We'll never know just how successful a striker Jock Pattillo would have been in competitive football for the Dons. The advent of the Second World War brought his record breaking goalscoring to a halt - although not entirely. Jock remained in Aberdeen throughout the war and set a high standard in the art of shooting goals in the wartime competitions. Had those goals counted with the statisticians, Jock would have been part of an elite group of leading marksmen for Aberdeen, behind only Joe Harper, Matt Armstrong and George Hamilton. He also scored a healthy return for Dundee before returning briefly to Pittodrie to work as trainer in 1952/53 - replacing long-serving Bob McDermid. After that he moved on to Perth to become player managaer of St Johnstone.
Died: Perth, 12th August 2002
