Adam made a valuable contribution to the Dons at a time when they were rebuilding after the "Great Mystery," bringing splendid wing play to the side and scoring a respectable number of goals as well as providing the ammunition for his inside men.
In early 1933, Adam applied for the managership of Linfield and the Pittodrie board put no obstacles in his way.
