Profile: |
After a slightly nomadic spell in his early professional career, Jonny arrived in Scottish football with Inverness Caley where he made a real impact creating a fine reputation for his energetic and able play. Craig Brown took the player to Pittodrie where he again showed up very well, blossoming even more under the guidance of manager Derek McInnes. After playing a key role for the Dons for five seasons, during which he played a major part in ensuring the team maintained a very positive win rate, he was sold to Glasgow Celtic for £1.3 million. Despite moving to a major rival, Jonny left with the best wishes of the Red Army.
When Jonny's conract with celtic expired in June 2020 and he became a free agent, he successfully negotiated a return to the Dons on a two year deal, which was officially confirmed on the 23rd of June 2020. The contract was further extended up to summer of 2023, being confirmed by the Club on 11th March 2022. The latest deal also allowed for Jonny to become involved in coaching with the Youth Academy.
On 20th April 2023, Jonny signed a one-year extension to his contract, refelcting his continuing valuable contibution to the team. He wore the captain's armband in three matches near the end of the season whilst Graemem Shinnie and Ross McCrorie were unavailable.
