Played as an amateur. Quit football in 1910 to enter the ministry as the Reverend C. V. A. McEachern (sometimes spelt McEchern. In June 1910, in the Pittodrie boardroom, he was presented with a gold watch by Chairman Tom Duncan, in recognition of his services to the Club.
In November 1914, when a minister at Tighnabruaich, it was announced that he had decided to join the Army as an ordinary recruit.
