After signing up at the beginning of 1926, Willie made the breakthrough to first team football in January 1927.
In January 1928 "The Bon-Accord" was suggesting that "Hector Lawson will have difficulty in regaining his place in the Dons' team if Willie Ross continues to play as well as he did against Queen's Park and Dundee."
Sadly, though, a stomach complaint ended his top-class football career ad he eventuallty returned to playing for Mugiemoss.
Outside of football, Willie worked as a machineman at Stoneywood Milld for 38 years and lived at 114 Auchmill Road, Bucksburn.
Willie moved to Bristol in later life to live with his married daughter, and died on 23rd April 1992.
