Signed 15 June 2016 on a 2 year deal, Joe became an instant hit in the team and with the supporters and played in every minute of every game in his first Pittodrie season. In June 2017, when the players returned from their summer break, Joe signed a contract extension to take him through to the summer of 2020, then in May 2019 the popular keeper further extended his deal to 2024. Two months later - on the 10th of July, it was announced that Joe had been appointed Club Captain.
