After an indifferent start to his loan spell at Pittodrie in season 2017-18, Ball showed up strongly late in the season and was brough back to the Dons for the next season, still on loan from Rotherham. This time he started well and made regular appearances.
Manager Derek McInnes offered Ball a contract in the summer of 2019 but he chose, instead, to sign up with Queen's Park Rangers.
