Profile: |
Although born in Aberdeen, Stuart signed for Dundee United from their Aberdeen
Coaching Centre in June 1999. Made his Dundee United debut in December 2001. Was
a regular in the first team squad thereafter and, when eligible, was also a regular in the
Scotland Under-21 squad. During season 2004-05, the midfielder scored his first goals for
the club, including an all-important winner at Ibrox. Essentially a midfielder, he is versatile
having figured in every defensive and midfield position in his 170 appearances in tangerine.
Allowed to leave Tannadice just before the end of the January transfer window, he joined
the team he supported as a boy. In May 2008, Duff instead signed a two-year contract
extension with the Pittodrie side. A reliable figure whatever position he plays.
In 2009 Stuart had a brief spell on loan with Inverness Caledonian Thistle and then signed for them for season 2010-2011 before having a brief trial with Ayr United and then moving to Malta to play for Qormi in 2011-2012, later moving on to Kairat in Kazakhstan for season 2012-2013. Returning to Scotland, he played three seasons at Cove Rangers then saw out his playing career at Inverurie Loco Works during 2017-2019.
He retained his Pittodrie connection, hosting in lounges and appearing on Red TV and also took up coaching with the Youth Academy, coaching the Under 15s and then at the beginning of August 2021, he was announced as Youth Phase Manager, overseeing the development of the young footballers in the U13s - U16s age groups.
