Sergeant James Hadden Neilson (29) was a native of Montrose and enlisted in the Lovat Scouts which was a mounted regiment. However as the war developed there was little need for mounted troops and the unit was converted to infantry and became the 10th Battalion, Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders which was part of a force sent to help the Greeks who were on our side in the war.
