Scotland International Declan signed a pre-season contract with the Dons in May 2021. He had been playing for for Motherwell, having previously been with Livingson, Dundee, Clyde and Stranraer (on loan from Celtic for whom he did not play a first team match).
The season did not go well, with injuries interrupting his apearances with resultant poor form.
On 26th June 2022 the Club announced that Declan's contract had been terminated. At the sme time St Mirren announced that he was joining them.
