Profile: |
Initially came as a war guest from Hamilton Accies and made several appearances in the war years. Despite being starved of the ball on a number of occasions he showed enough to proved he was a winger above the ordinary class. So much so that in November 1945 Dave Halliday went south and signed him permanently. A tricky winger his crossing was always well timed and dangerous and he was on the left wing for the Southern League Cup triumph in May 1946 as well as in the Scottish Cup Final in 1947.
Transferred to Newcastle United in January 1948, immediately after playing in the victory over Motherwell on the 3rd of that month for a fee estimated to be between £7000 and £8000.
Died - Bishopbriggs, Glasgow 1st June 1985
