About the Trust

The Aberdeen FC Heritage Trust is an independent charitable organisation working closely with Aberdeen Football Club in order to care for and expand upon the historical record and memorabilia of Aberdeen FC and its supporters and the community it serves.

The idea of setting up a Trust had been in several minds for some time and finally started to come together in the summer of 2008 when the Club's board approved a proposal on the subject. An initial meeting of possible Trustees was held in September 2008 and work began in earnest. As a first step the Trustees approached the Aberdeen Council for Voluntary Organisations (ACVO) for some help and advice and a Trust Deed was drafted. This was formally signed by the first five Trustees in February 2009 and an application for recognition as a charity was made to the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) which formally approved the Trust as Charity Number SC040596 in June 2009. This was followed in August 2009 by recognition for tax purposes by HMRC and this paved the way for the setting up of PayPal and ebay accounts to help with fund raising.

Whilst all of the above was going on, work was underway to build up this website which will not only tell you all about the Heritage Trust but provide lots of information about the Dons past and present.

As time goes by, it will be possible to follow the Trust's activities on the website, principally via the Trust News button.

The Trust's aims are fairly simple on paper, as we seek to work on all aspects of the history of Aberdeen FC and its fans. The tough part will come as we work towards setting up a fully fledged Heritage Centre where the story can be told and the goods and chattels of the Club and supporters can be viewed in the proper surroundings.
