Joseph Henry Haise was appointed the Club's first captain at the inaugural meeting in 1881, but resigned the post before a game was played on account of being unhappy with his position. However, he goes down in history as the first player known to have worn an A.F.C. badge on his playing kit.

SACKVILLE HALL SHOOTING CASE.

Dr. Louis Byrne, Coroner, held an inquest yesterday at Jervis Street Hospital into the circumstances connected with the death of Mr. Joseph H. Haise, General Secretary of the Presbyterian Association, who died the previous evening from a wound received at a bazaar is the Sackville Hall, Dublin. The jury found that the occurrence was accidental, and exonerated a young man named Colin A. Binnie from blame for the regrettable occurrence. Binnie was charged in the Northern Court earlier in the day with having caused Mr. Haise's death, and remanded on bail
