Wright Came through the ranks at Pittodrie as one of a clutch of promising youngsters in the successful Dons youth side of the late 80's. Stephen made his Aberdeen debut in 1990 against St Mirren along with Scott Booth. Many observers had predicted a long international future for the Dons defender, and after making his Scotland
debut against Germany at Ibrox in 1993, it seemed only a matter of time before his potential would be fulfilled.
In 1995, Rangers came in with a £1.5m bid, which was reluctantly accepted by the club. It was at Ibrox that Wright's career was to falter. After damaging ligaments in a Champions League game in
Turin, Wright found himself sidelined for the best part of two years. Following a spell at Bradford, former mentor Alex Smith brought him back to Scotland to Dundee United.
