Still in the days before substitutes, Fred Martin suffered a broken jaw twelve minutes into the match and Hugh Baird had to take over, with the Dons being reduced to ten men. Hugh made a valiant effort, including the saving of a Cowie penalty kick, but could not keep out two goals in the second half.
