Amongst the glittering array of awards and gifts that came to the Club thanks to the achievements in season 1982-1983, is this plaque from the City of Aberdeen.
The City Council has never been slow to recognise the outstanding contributions made by the football club to the reputation and morale of Aberdeen and the north east, and in this case the acknowledgement came in the form of a plaque.
For many years the plaque could be seen in the boardroom and then in the ground level concourse of the Richard Donald Stand. Now it has joined with other 1983 related artefacts to be displayed in the Fierce Beer 1983 Lounge which was previously known as the Gothenburg Lounge.
The updated room now recogises not only the glorious Cup Winners Cup success over Real Madrid, but also the Scottish Cup Final victory of May '83 and of course the defeat of SV Hamburg in the European Super Cup.
