gothenburg warm up jacket

This Warm-up Jacket is the one worn by Neil Simpson on that rain drenched night in glorious Gothenburg when the Dons swept aside Europe’s most successful team to clinch victory in the European Cup Winners Cup final.

Part of the Aberdeen powerhouse in so many vital matches, Neil enjoyed a glittering Pittodrie career as a player, making 310 senior appearances and scoring 31 goals the most important of which was the opening goal in the Super Cup match against Hamburg in December 1983. He also earned five International Caps for Scotland

After retiring from playing, Neil went into coaching, eventually returning to Pittodrie where he played a vital part in modernising our Youth Development system that ultimately became the Youth Academy based at Cormack Park.

In July 2024, after well over twenty years of behind-the-scenes service, Neil announced that he was leaving the Club to take up a new opportunity away from football.
