Gershon Cup
The Aberdeen 1 - 4 Orion
Kick Off:    Taylor
Attendance: 0
Venue: Chanonry, Aberdeen
In the Gershon Cup tie, which was played between these teams on Chanonry Grounds on Saturday, Orion again demonstrated their undoubted superiority over the wearers of the white. In the first half, with the wind in their favour, Orion - who were without Currie, who was injured, and had to retire soon after the start - had by far the best of matters. Their first point, which was gained a few minutes after the start, was a somewhat doubtful one, many of the spectators, and particularly those supporting the ground club, being of opinion that the ball went past. The other three points which were got before half-time were, however, beyond question. It was confidently expected that, with the strong wind in their favour - for by this time it had greatly increased in velocity - Aberdeen although four goals behind, would run their opponents hard. This was not so, however. The Orion were able not only by reason of their strong defence to defy Aberdeen's efforts to score, but by dashing forward play to make numerous dangerous raids on the home goal. Towards the close Taylor scored Aberdeen's first, and, as it proved, only goal. The match ended in a blinding snow shower. Result: Orion, 4; Aberdeen, 1. Mr J. Black, Forfar, discharged the duties of referee very efficiently.
