Charity Cup Semi Final
Aberdeen 3 - 6 Victoria United
Kick Off:
Attendance: 3,000
Venue: Chanonry, Aberdeen
Teams representing the Victoria United and Aberdeen Clubs met at Chanonry on Saturday in the semi-final round of the charity cup tie. Beautiful weather prevailed, and about 3000 spectators witnessed the match. In the first half of the game some exciting play took place. The Aberdeen opened the scoring, but the United quickly settled down to work and registered three points in rapid succession. A spell of equal play followed; then the Aberdeen put in a vigorous spurt and succeeded in equalising before halt-time.

If anything the Aberdeen had the best of the game in the first period, but early in the second half it became apparent that they could not maintain the pace which their opponents forced. The Blues were playing with considerable dash and were still as fresh as paint. Before time was called they had put other three goals to their credit, and as the Aberdeen failed to increase their score, the Victoria United won by 6 goals to 3.

A feature of the game was the number of points scored, ten in all, but two were disallowed to each side. For the winners, Forsyth, Clark, and Turner were clearly most effective. Annand was the best of a rather poor trio of half-backs, and the back play was disappointing. Cannon, in goal, was not in his best mood for saving. On the Aberdeen side, Ramsay, the custodian, also played very poorly. Davidson and Wood at back put in some good work, and Cobban was the best half-back on the field. The home forwards showed fine judgment, but were not trained up to 90 minutes' play. Mr Baillie, St Bernards, Edinburgh, gave complete satisfaction as referee. The drawings amounted to about 40. The Victoria United will now meet the Orion in the final round.
