Orion 4 - 2 The Aberdeen
Kick Off:
Attendance: 2,000
Venue: Central Park, Aberdeen
Contests between city clubs seem to have a never-failing interest for local enthusiasts, and on Saturday over 2000 spectators lined the ropes at Central Park for the purpose of witnessing a friendly game between the ground club and Aberdeen. As was generally expected, the reds on their own ground were more than a match for their visitors, whom they defeated by 4 goals to 2. Orion, by means of Johnstone and James, put on the first two points, and it was not until within a few minutes of half-time that a soft goal fell to Aberdeen. Ends having been changed, Orion added two more points. Towards the close, however, Aberdeen, playing with the hill in their favour, came away with a good spurt, but, owing to a strong defence maintained by the Orion backs, they could only secure one goal, and had to retire defeated as already stated. For the winners the best work was done by the backs and Low, Johnstone, and James; while on the losing side Davidson, Morren, and Allott were most prominent.
