The Aberdeen 3 - 2 Orion
Kick Off:    Gray, Mackie, Turner       Leggat, Stopani
Attendance: 0
Venue: Chanonry, Aberdeen
A fairly interesting friendly game between these teams, played at Chanonry, resulted in a win to Aberdeen by 3 goals to 2. There was a large attendance of spectators. A strong wind interfered somewhat with the play, Aberdeen won the toss, and played with the wind. Immediately after the start Turner had a pretty run up the right, but the Orion defence repelled the attack. A little later Taylor had another fine run for Aberdeen, and gave a grand centre near goal. Gray was at hand, and neatly scored. Aberdeen had been having the best of the game, and Turner initiated another exciting attack, but Edwards, the Orion custodian, saved twice in splendid style. After this, play was less unequal, and latterly Aberdeen fell away, while Orion, who had pulled up considerably, made some gallant attacks. At length, from a free kick near the Aberdeen goal, the ball went through off Leggatt, and the teams stood level.

Ends were changed with the score standing one goal each. Soon after play was resumed, Orion again attacked with much spirit. Smythe ran out to throw the ball, but he dropped it, and Stopani, who had had a good run up, scored a second goal. From this point the Aberdeen players roused themselves, and in one of their attacks Mackie cleverly equalised. Shortly before time was called, Turner, after a brilliant run, scored the third and winning goal. Orion, it should be stated, wanted two of their regular players, Thom and Benzie; whose places were filled by Gallachar and McIntosh. As it was, the teams were very evenly matched. After scoring their second goal Orion again put the ball through, but, as it was fouled at goalmouth, the point was disallowed. Mr P. Simpson was referee, and acted with commendable strictness and impartiality.
