match report 1916-17 fixture list
Div 1 (Old)
Aberdeen 2 - 1 Hibernian
Kick Off:  3:00 PM   Main, Wylie.       Campbell
Attendance: 5,000
Venue: Pittodrie Stadium, Aberdeen
With a little more dash and cohesion near goal the Hibernians would have come away with at least one point from Aberdeen. In the first half they were the keener lot, but crossed over with the score-sheet blank. Smith, their best forward, gave Campbell the chance to open their account. Main equalised, and then McManus, none too sure, knocked a shot from W. Wylie through his own goal.

Aberdeen, through a mistake by the Hibs' goalkeeper, beat Hibs in the last League game at Pittodrie. Hibs, arriving without a centre, had the loan of Ambler who was only once ot twice in the picture. Wyllie, the home centre, was no better. Hibs had slightly the pull in the first half, but the local attack, or rather W. Wylie, made things hum in more lively fashion after the interval. Calder was great at back against W, Smith, the Hibs' star artiste in their front line.
