The "Gay Gordons" are less successful on the football field than on the field of battle, and in their match with the Victoria United, at Victoria Bridge Grounds, before a large spectatorate, they were severely defeated by 7 goals to 1. The clubs were represented thus: Highlanders: Fish; Thomson, McCall; McGuire, Edward, Mackay; Cockburn, Murray, Hall, Docherty, Macdonald. United: Sim; Anderson, J. Ririe; Morrice, W. Ririe, Annand; Murison, Morrison, Caie, Forsyth, Clark. From the start there was no doubt as to which was the better team. Victoria United were superior at all points.
