Played at Cattofield. The teams were as follows: Orion - Morrison; Mackay, Ross; Wight, Low, Currie; Gloag, Benzie, "James," Dawson, Stopani. Dunfermline Athletic - Campbell: Robb, Muir; Macpherson, Russell, Seaton; Dryburgh, Lawrie, Horn, Moultrie, Turnbull.
Athletic right wing had a run down the field, and when near the 25-line Dryburgh crossed to Moultrie, who, after beating Mackay and Wight, sent the ball into the net. Eventually Moultrie took advantage of an opening, and scored the second point for his team. Half-time scores: Dunfermline, 2 goals; Orion, 0.
In the second half the home forwards bore down like an avalanche upon the Athletic defence, and bombarded Campbell's charge from all sides. The custodian sent back several fast shots, but on one occasion he placed the ball at Low's foot, and the result was that the centre-half scored one of the prettiest goals ever seen at Cattofield. Other two goals followed in quick succession, but the referee disallowed both on account of off-side and a foul. The attack was kept up, however, and Gloag equalised. "James" a few minutes afterwards put his team one up with a low swift shot. Result; Orion 3, Dunfermline 2.
