Played at Victoria Bridge Grounds in splendid weather before a large crowd. Teams: Rovers - Grieve; Kay, Oag; Cormack, Lambert, Robertson; Smith, Menzies Walker, Suttie, Dawson. United - Insch; Anderson, J. Ririe; Morrice, W. Ririe, Annand; A. McFarlane, G. McFarlane, Clark, Caie, Ritchie.
The United set the ball arolling in the face of a strong wind. The Rovers at once warmed to their work, and, after about five minutes' play, opened the scoring. The strangers not long afterwards got within close quarters, and in a scrimmage near goal mouth Ririe was unfortunately hurt, and had to retire. A large amount of desultory play, in mid-field followed, the Rovers, if anything, having the best of matters. Before half-time arrived they had increased their lead by another point. With the wind in their favour in the second half, the United at once changed the aspect of matters. Having got within shooting distance, Ritchie, by a well-judged shot, scored the first goal for the United, who kept up the pressure, and Clark a few minutes afterwards placed his team on equal terms. This was not for long, however. The Rovers came away with a rush, Menzies finishing up by placing the ball in the net. The United never for a moment showed the white feather, and shortly before time was called obtained the equalising point from a scrimmage in front of goal. Result: Raith Rovers 3, Victoria United 3.
