Dunfermline Athletic are a favourite team with Aberdonians, and goodly numbers of spectators found their way to Victoria Bridge Grounds on Saturday to see the Victoria United whip them by 5 goals to 2. It wasn't a runaway game altogether, the strangers fighting a good fight to the end. The Blues, with the exception perhaps of Gray, the Aberdeen cast off, played up to form, and if they had slightly the best of the luck, they worked hard for their victory, which was thoroughly well deserved. We are to have one of those high old local Derbys on Saturday, when the Stripes measure blades with the Blues, and if the Orion don't improve upon their Saturday's play against Arbroath, the Vics should have little or no difficulty in vanquishing them. At all times the Blues are a difficult team to overcome, and we may rest assured they will have a hard try for honours on Saturday. By the way, Rob Turner appeared in a new role, on Saturday, holding the whistle with no little ability in the match at Torry.
