Peterhead 3 - 4 Victoria United
Kick Off:    Sutherland, Stephen       ?, McFarlane, ?, Mackie
Attendance: 0
Venue: Recreation Park, Peterhead
The Victoria United journeyed to Peterhead on Saturday, and engaged with the home team in a friendly before a large crowd of spectators. The Blues were represented by - Gillespie; Anderson, Morrice; Russell, Gordon, Annand; Maconnochie, McFarlane, Caie, Burnett, Ritchie; while Peterhead had forward Mackie; Gardiner, Henderson; Cowie, Murray, Forrest; Sutherland, McKechnie, Smith, Moir, Stephen. The weather was execrable, the greater portion of the game being played in a blinding hailstorm, while the ground was exceedingly wet and heavy, the ball consequently being difficult to manage.

Shortly after the start, the Blues made for Peterhead's goal, and drew first blood by a rather tame shot. Peterhead, not to be beat, retaliated, and Moir, in the teeth of the wind, took the ball up the field in grand style, terminating his sprint by sending the leather direct for the Aberdeen goal. Gillespie might have cleared, but Stephen and Sutherland paid him some attention, the latter succeeding, amid great cheering, in scoring the first point for the homesters. Peterhead pressed, but the Victoria eventually managed to clear, and at once rushed for the home goal, where McFarlane registered the second goal for the Blues. After some tactics in midfield of a dull and uninteresting description, the strangers made for Peterhead goal, and, as the result of a corner, added another point to their score, the whistle sounding for half-time with Victoria, 3 goals; Peterhead, 1.

The Blues soon after the restart laid siege to the Peterhead goal, but the admirable defence nullified their efforts again and again, Mackie, however, being eventually beat for the fourth time through a scrimmage in the goal¬mouth. For Peterhead Stephen ultimately found an opening with a long shot. This raised the spirits of the Peterhead team, and they again besieged the stranger's citadel, and after several fruitless efforts, Sutherland for the third time sent the leather spinning past Gillespie. Final result: Victoria United, 4 goals; Peterhead, 3 goals.
