In playing the celebrated Hibernians to a goal (1-0), the Victoria United accomplished one of the best things they have ever done. The goal given against them, too, was open to question, as from the press box the ball appeared to strike the outside of the net, which makes the achievement all the more meritorious. There wasn't a weak player on the home side, and their attack and defence was almost as good as the Greens. If anyone stood out more prominently than another, that individual was Anderson, whose brilliant work behind considerably added to the great reputation his is this season building up. Among the visitors, of course, "Judge" Murphy was a striking figure, but the beautiful forward play of P Murray was the feature of the match, together with the sterling defence of the goalkeeper and backs. On their form on Saturday the Victoria United should take some holding by either the Aberdeen or Orion, if they can only repeat it. The Blues, however, have a knack of doing wonders against strong southern elevens, and then falling before their local antagonists. They may now mend their manners in this respect, and act a consistent part.
