The Blues in Dire Distress at Montrose
With ten players the Victoria United met the Montrose at Links Park, Montrose. During the first period the Montrose had the best of matters, although the United, taking into consideration that they were a player short, made a stout, resistance. At the end of the first half the ground team was leading by 2 goals.

Shortly after the restart Montrose added a third point. From a scrimmage the visitors scored, but the goal was disallowed owing to a previous infrngment. About 3 minute later, however. McKechnie beat the Montrose custodian. Before time was called Montrose added other two points, and the game ended Montrose 4, Victoria United,1.

With only ten men, and some of them reserves, the Victoria United were in dire distress at Links Park. With the wind In their favour, Montrose had the big share of the play, but Gillespie playing a fine game in goal, they could only claim 2 points to nil in the first half. On crossing over the Aberdonians at once took matters in hand, but the homesters' defence was very sound, Alexander (in goal) excelling. Suiting their play to the nature of the pitch, and almost immediately after the Blues scrimmaged past their first goal, which, however, was disallowed. McKechnie made up for this, however, by putting on a genuine point. Then another misfortune, in the shape of a penalty kick, befel the Blues, but fortunately for them the kick went for nothing. Some strong play ensued, from which Montrose chalked up a fourth point, and the match ended: Montrose 4, Victoria United 1.
