Victoria United 3 - 5 Denny Athletic
Kick Off:
Attendance: 0
Venue: Victoria Bridge, Aberdeen
An Unlooked for Defeat.
Played at the Victoria Bridge Grounds. The United had the best of matters for the first fifteen minutes, during which they scored a point, but the strangers, wakening up, at last equalised. Before half-time the strangers placed themselves in the ascendancy.

Shortly after the resumption of play, the Athletic notched their third point. The United now wakened up, and ultimately scored their second point, and later equalised. For some time play was very exciting, both elevens endeavouring to score the winning point. The Athletic, at last, gained their fourth goal, and before the period closed had raised their total to five. Result - Athletic, 5; United, 3.

The Victoria United took the Denny Athletic too cheap, and naturally paid the penalty, the Dumbarton men going home with a 5-3 victory. Whether the Blues under-estimated the strength of their opponents or not I am not prepared to say, but this I will say, the Torry lads may be depended upon to make things hum up Cattofield way on Saturday unless I am greatly mistaken. These local Derbys are always the signal for the gathering of the clans, and should Jupiter Pluvius be on anything like decent behaviour, the fingers of the ticket sellers will have to be in their nimblest mood.
