Victoria United 2 - 2 Dundee A
Kick Off:
Attendance: 0
Venue: Cattofield, Aberdeen
The Draw at Aberdeen.
Dundee A and the Victoria United had a somewhat stiff bout on the Cattofield Grounds. There were several changes in the composition of the home team. From the outset the Dundonians kept up a heavy pressure, but then Craig, Thain, and Watson baffled their attempts. On the other hand, when the home team made a dash, it was always with difficulty they got past Steven, Mackay, and J. Halkett. Allan and Taylor worked well for the visitors. But there was far too much temper and determination shown throughout the whole play. In the first half each team scored a goal, and in the second half both teams also succeeded in adding another goal.

The winter game got a good send off on Saturday, and our local clubs are to be congratulated on their opening displays.
AT HOME THE VICTORIA UNITED
entertained the Dundee A, quite a fashionable audience assembling to witness the event. Councillor Wilkie kicked of the ball and Mr Gaudie echoed the sentiments of all when he hoped success would follow the Vics to the north side of the Dee. Central Park is not yet ready for occupation, and as the Orion were away Cattofield was kindly placed at the Vics' disposal. The game naturally suffered from being the first of the season, the off season's rust being apparent on both sides. Taking the play of both sides we fancied the Vics most, and though our sympathies naturally go to our lads, no impartial spectator can say but that the Vics deserved to win. The Dundee club have about two dozen players to pick from, but we are afraid some of the professionals that played in Aberdeen on Saturday will have to improve vastly before they are chosen to represent the first eleven. All over we were pleased with the Vics, and once they get properly into one another's play they should turn out a most formidable team.
