Victoria United 4 - 2 Celtic
Kick Off:    Toman, Toman, Caie, Caie       Ferguson, Battles
Attendance: 3,000
Venue: Victoria Bridge, Aberdeen
In presence of a large turnout; of spectators, the Celtic and the Victoria United met last night at Victoria Bridge Grounds. The weather was favourable and the ground in good condition. This was the Celtic's third visit to the Victoria United at Torry, the last fixture having resulted in a decided win for the Irishmen. For the occasion the ground team had enlisted the services of Joseph Davidson and Toman, of the Aberdeen, the eleven being Gillespie; Gordon, Allan; Morrice, Joseph Davidson, Annand; Forsyth, Toman, Caie, Burnett, Ritchie. The Celtic were represented by: McArthur; Meechan, Doyle; McEleny, Maley, Battles; Madden, Blessington, McMahon, Henderson, Ferguson. Mr James Philip, Aberdeen, officiated as referee.

At the outset the Celtic took things rather calmly, but the United worked hard and kept their distinguished opponents in their own territory. Playing with commendable vigour and fine combination, the front rank of the Blues for a time kept up a continual bombardment of the Celtic's goal, and Toman and Caie gave the defence warm work in averting several dangerous shots. The former player at last found an opening, and successfully eluding a charge by the veteran Doyle, notched the first point after a comparatively short period. Play now became faster, and the Aberdeen eleven drew forth round after round of cheering as they rained on the visitors' citadel strong dangerous shots, thunderous applause, being evoked when Toman again lowered the colours of the Scottish League champions. The Celtic now wakened up, however, and a fine combined run by Henderson and Ferguson ended in the reduction of the home team's lead by a goal. Fast, exciting, and equal play brought the first period of the game to a close, with no change in the score, and as the second half progressed the strangers' exhibition deteriorated, while the Aberdeen team never gave a better performance. Steadily forcing back their opponents, the United quickly added two other goals, both from the foot of Caie; but, from a foul in front of the home goal, Battles beat Gillespie for the second time. No further scoring took place, and the match, which was the best in which the United have figured this season, ended United, 4 goals; Celtic, 2. The drawings amounted to 43.
