For the first time this season the Victoria United met the Aberdeen at Chanonry in a friendly match. For a considerable period fast give-and-take play was the order, both goals being subjected to repeated onslaughts, Benefiting by a foul, Aberdeen first drew blood, but they did not long have the lead, a spurt of the United ending in the defeat of Smyth. A little before half-time Aberdeen added another goal, and the teams crossed over 2-1. On the resumption of play, the United worked hard for goals, but Smyth saved in splendid style until he was beaten by a smart shot from Caie. Each team afterwards secured a goal, and the match ended in a draw: United, 3; Aberdeen, 3.
