AS the result of the meeting of these teams at Forfar on Saturday, the Athletic annexed a couple of points, the score at the finish being in favour of Forfar by 4 goals to 3. The scoring throughout was of the seesaw order, Forfar leading. At the start Aberdeen gave Easton a chance of showing his saving powers, and he gamely responded. Jones was erratic at back, and the Aberdeen forwards were smart on the ball, and did not neglect any opportunities that came their way. Forfar were the first to score, however, Aberdeen equalising from a corner. Both teams had another goal before the interval. If the Aberdonians had the best of it in the first period, Forfar had certainly their innings in the second. For a time they virtually monopolised the play. Cable and Mann played capitally at half, and kept their forwards well supplied with the ball, but Black at centre half was disappointing. The Athletic front line lacked cohesion, however, McFarlane as a pivot being decidedly off colour, and numerous chances were missed by the attacking line, while Smyth safely dealt with all shots that came his way. Janes, who had been slack in the first period, improved greatly, and along with Scott held the Aberdeen forwards safe, they seldom getting within shooting distance. Macfarlane ultimately gave Forfar the lead, Aberdeen again equalising from a free kick, but from the kick-off Forfar promptly rushed the ball through, and the game ended as above.
