Aberdeenshire Cup
14/11/1896

Victoria United 9 - 0 Fraserburgh Wanderers
Kick Off:
Attendance: 0
Venue: Victoria Bridge, Aberdeen
The Victoria United and Fraserburgh Wanderers met at Torry, and the teams were: United - Gillespie; Allan, Grant; Morrice, Davidson, Annand; Murison, Toman, Caie, Thornton, Ritchie. Wanderers - Stephen; Cardno, Henderson; Paterson, Melvin, J. Noble; Massie, W. Noble, Robertson, Macdonald, Fraser. Mr James Philip, Aberdeen, acted as referee. This game, which proved of a somewhat one-sided character, resulted in favour of the United by nine goals to nil. In the first half the United scored four goals, while the Wanderers failed to find an opening. The strangers' play improved slightly in the second half, the goalkeeper and one of the half-backs outshining the other members of the team. Five goals were put on by the United in the second 45 minutes, and but for the fact that the game ended in semi-darkness the visitors would have left the field with a much heavier reverse.
