If the 1500 spectators of the match between the Victoria United and Forfar Athletic at Torry went in the hope of witnessing a fine exhibition of football, they must have been very much disappointed at the close of the game. In point of fact a poorer performance has seldom been given by two clubs of any standing. A great deal, however, must be attributed to the weather. Forfar Athletic are a good all-round club, and are a match for any of the Aberdeen teams. They exercised their diplomacy on Saturday, when, leading by two goals at the beginning of the second half, they reconstituted their team and considerably strengthened the back division. In view of the fact they were playing against the wind, the United stood up well in the first period. The score at half time was 2-0 in favour of the Forfar team. It was in the second half that the United broke down. Try as they liked they could not score. Play for 30 minutes of the second portion was confined to the Forfar's end but the United failed to find an opening in their opponents' armour. No scoring took place in the latter period.
