The only regret in connection with the action of the Victoria United in bringing such first-class combinations as have visited the city during the past two weeks is that so many fine games should have been crowded in to so brief a period. The energy of the United is, however, no less apparent, and they are to be complimented. It was not for a moment expected that the United would defeat the Hibernian, and the wonder is that they stood up so well. As a matter of fact, however, the United were leading up to a comparatively short time from the close; but the strangers ultimately ran out winners by 4 goals to 3.

The visit of the famous Hibs to Torry on Saturday attracted a fair crowd. Both teams were thoroughly representative. The game opened well, both sides infusing plenty of dash into their play. For a time the game was pretty equal, but the superior tactics of the "Green and White" soon told its tale, and from a couple of excellent runs Smith and Howie both scored for the Hibs. Towards the close of the first half the referee awarded a penalty to the Blues - the reason for which no one could see - which Annand easily converted into a goal. After a lengthy interval play was resumed. Ritchie was conspicuous at this time for some fine pieces of play, from one of which Black had no difficulty in equalising. Spurred on by this reverse, the Hibs strove hard and long for the leading point, but were repulsed at every step. The game seemed now likely to end in a draw, but a supreme effort on the part of Hibs enabled Price to score, followed shortly by another from Docherty, and a pleasant game thus ended in favour of the Hibs by 4 to 3. The Victoria were greatly handicapped in the second half through Annand having to retire with a sprained knee, which will, it is thought, keep him from playing for the remainder of the season.
