Lochee United 2 - 2 The Aberdeen
Kick Off:    Forrest, Ramsay       McIntosh, W. Clark
Attendance: 0
Venue: St Margaret's Grounds, Dundee
The return engagement between the above clubs was played at St Margaret's Park, Lochee, before a good turnout of spectators. Teams: Lochee United - Coventry; C. Morris, Roberts; Reid, Moon, McIntosh; Bryce, A. Morrice, Ramsay, Vigrow, Forrest. Aberdeen - Smyth; Davidson, McConnachie; Thomson, J. Clark (late of MonČrose), Henderson; McIntosh, Milne, Mackie, Gray, W. Clark. Referee, Mr Davidson, of Arbroath. Within a minute from the kick-off Lochee United, through Forrest, scored their first goal. This early reverse put the strangers on their mettle. For a time fast play ensued from end to end, but several chances were lost through faulty shooting. Ultimately the visitors' right wing sped southward at a rare pace, and beat Coventry with an unsaveable shot. This success put renewed vigour into the Aberdonians, and once more they were successful in finding an opening, the left wing this time, doing the needful. The homesters then had a look in at the other end, but Forrest, Ramsay, and Bruce all failed to turn easy chances to account, Half-time arrived with Aberdeen in the ascendant by 2 goals to 1. On restarting Aberdeen at once hemmed in the ground team, but Coventry and his backs frustrated all attempts of their opponents to augment their total. After a somewhat lengthened stay at the north goal, Aberdeen were gradually forced back towards their own citadel, where Lochee United with the least bit of luck ought to have scored on at least two occasions. Towards the close of the period Lochee pressed severely, but through the ball would not go. The excitement, consequent upon Lochee's possible defeat, was very great. Within the last minute of the game a terrific scrimmage took place at the Aberdeen goal, the custodian being rendered hors de combat. In the struggle he bravely, tried to clear his lines, but Ramsay pounced on the leather, and equalised amid great cheesing. The whistle blew immediately, the result of a hard game being a draw of 2 goals each.

Short Kicks.

Only three of the Lochee team which played at Aberdeen got a place on Saturday against the Whites. A more exciting game than the second half I have never seen, both goals being visited time about. The Aberdeen had often hard lines, while the Lochee threw away one or two good opportunities of scoring. Thirty seconds remained to play and Tom Smyth, catching a shot from Black, was simply kicked into the net.
The halves and John Davidson played best for the Whites, while McIntosh and Taylor were the pick of the forwards.
