The final of the Dewar Shield took place between Aberdeen and Stenhousemuir at Merchieson [Merchiston] Park, Falkirk. The teams were:- Stenhousemuir: Stoddart; Mirk, McLeod; Fairley, McBride, weir; McNair, Pollock, Baird, W. Clarkson, T. Clarkson. Aberdeen: Bisset; O'Brien, Dakers; Sangster, Thomson, Robertson; Brash, C. Mackie, H Livingstone, Davidson, A. Bruce. Referee - Mr. Ton Robertson. Linesmen - Mr. C. Cathro, president, Forfarshire Association, and Mr. Wm. McKendrick, Perth.
Aberdeen commenced the play, and at once invaded, but Davidson shot past the net, a performance immediately afterwards repeated by Stenhousemuir. Brash had a splendid run for Aberdeen, and centred well, but a shot from Livingstone rebounded from the crossbar. Mackie scored, bur Bruce was judged as being past before centring. Immediately before half-time, W. Clarkson scored for Stenhousemuir, Bisset having little chance of saving.
In the second period, Aberdeen were the first to play on the aggressive, and Thomson attempted to score, but the ball grazed the uprights. Several corners fell to both teams, but McNair at length found the net. Livingstone scored in the last few minutes of the game for Aberdeen, and an interesting game ended:- Stenhousemuir 2, Aberdeen 1.
