Venue: Pittodrie Stadium, Aberdeen
Boy's Success on Wing
Aberdeen beat an Aberdeenshire Junior Select at Pittodrie by three goals to one. It took the Dons a long time to gain the mastery, but they were definitely superior in the second half.
Chief interest centred on the display of the schoolboy, George Christie, who appeared at outside right for the Dons. Despite lack of height and weight he showed undoubted ability. His trapping was excellent, while he showed fine control. He can beat an opponent in the minimum of space. He is a good player in the making, and well worth nursing.
Outstanding in the Junior Select were Bruce (Aberdeen Juniors) in goal, Christie (Parkvale) at centre half, and Dutch (Hall and Co) at right half. But for them the Dons might have won by a greater margin. The junior attack was disappointing.
Aberdeen were well served by Moody (goal), Dyer (back), and Pattillo, Dunlop and Taylor (halves). Gourlay, Ferguson and Christie were the best forwards.
