HUGE CROWD AT ABERDEEN F.C. PRACTICE.
The keenness with which the opening of the senior season is anticipated in Aberdeen was reflected at Pittodrie last night when two teams from the Aberdeen Football Club engaged in a public practice game. It is estimated there were 16,000 spectators, and these followed the play with an enthusiasm that augurs well for the support likely to be accorded the local senior club during the season.
The result of the game was victory for the Black and Gold XI. over the Blue and White XI. by 5 goals 1, after a fairly interesting exhibition.

While the form of all the players was closely watched and weighed up, interest centred most on the work of the new-comers. Naturally the players did not treat the game with the seriousness with which they would contest a League encounter, but all the same they did not spare themselves, and the play, which never lacked in strenuousness, was productive of some clever passages. It was unfortunate that in the course of the first half Duggins, who played at outside left for the Black and Gold, had the misfortune to badly twist his ankle, and had to be assisted off. He was unable to resume, and after the interval Grant went into the vacancy, and was succeeded by McLeod, the ex-Parkvale player.
The first period of the game was fairly evenly contested, neither side getting a goal, clever attacking play being successfully countered by the defenders. In the second half, goals came fast and often, and while several were the outcome of a mixture of clever individualism and studied combination, others were rather easily scored. The greater experience of the Black and Gold defence told its tale, with the result that the superiority of that side became pronounced. There were numerous stoppages from accidental injuries to several of the players, but fortunately these were not serious. The scorers were: Black and Gold ?Arthur Robertson (2) Grant, Forbes, and McLeod. Blue and White? Thomson.
The club's opening Scottish League game is with Kilmarnock at Kilmarnock on Wednesday evening.
