The commodious new park of the Thistle Football Club, Inverness, was opened last evening by a visit from the Aberdeen team, who played their strongest eleven. Prior to the match Provost Birnie complemented the Thistle management on their enterprise in securing an up-to-date park with all accessories. Afterwards the Provost kicked off the ball, and a keen game ensued. The Thistle forwards played a pretty game, but could not penetrate to the net, owing to the fine play of the Aberdeen goalkeeper. Aberdeen's scored early, but soon the game stood 3 goals to 1. McIntosh was prominent in the visitors forward line, while MacEchern on the right and the outside left were doing effective work. The Aberdeen score steadily rose, and the Thistle secured another goal. The Aberdeen goalkeeper continued to play finely.
While the defeat was pretty heavy, the Aberdeen players complemented the Thistle, especially the forwards, on their fine combination and accurate centring.
