Big Crowd at Pittodrie Practice Game.
The Aberdeen Football Club had a full-dress rehearsal last night at Pittodrie, where 15,000 spectators attended a public practice by the players engaged for the coming season. With the exception of Carroll and McHale, all the players who are signed by the club were on view, and there was a last-minute surprise by the inclusion of McClorie, a forward who has been with Dundee, Hamilton Academicals, and Charlton Athletic. The game was in the nature of a "contest" between last year's first team defence and first team forwards, and resulted in win for the side that included the latter by 4 goals to 0. McDermid opened the scoring, and before he interval Reid added other two goals, one following a fine ground shot, by McDermid. In the second half Miller added a fourth goal in clever style. The game was not nearly as one-sided as the score would indicate, and the work of both teams was full of promise. All the old hands showed they retain their form, and the play of the younger men - especially Cheyne, who operated at inside - suggested big possibilities. A collection was made on behalf of the Queen Alexandra Memorial Fund, and a generous response, was made. The directors have decided to hold another public trial on Monday evening.
