Leggat's Nap Wakens Airdrie

Well beaten in the game at Aberdeen last Saturday, Airdrieonians, with a better-looking side, had an early chance to atone with today's game.

Aberdeen kicked off and in the first minute Little, trying to make an opening, sent the ball to Leggat. The winger hit the ball against the 'keeper and when it was diverted to Hather he, too, should have scored instead of putting the ball past.
Tactics on both sides maintained a lively interest. Quigley, a bit out of position, had some chance of a dangerous shot, but he chose to do too much and was outnumbered.
And when McLean was left clear for crossing, Walker dashed in to beat him. Then in 19 minutes we had an Aberdeen goal. Little had some say in it, and, after he had given LEGGAT the chance to score, the winger got a second chance off the goalkeeper - and he made the most of it from close range.
DUNCAN gave Airdrie a grand equaliser in 32 minutes when he collected from McLean and shot a swerving right footer well past Martin. The goal inspired Airdrie and towards the interval they kept Martin almost constantly on the alert. It was all against the runs of play when LEGGAT put Aberdeen ahead again just on the interval.

After six minutes on the defensive there was a third goal for Aberdeen from a penalty kick. With his goalkeeper out of reach, Baillie put a Leggat shot over the bar by using his hand. LEGGAT made the most of the spot kick.
Five minutes later Airdrie got a well-deserved goal when a McMILLAN left-footer gave Martin no chance.
In 31 minutes LEGGAT, with a great left-foot shot, got a fourth goal and two minutes later had a fifth to make his own nap hand. Just on time, LITTLE added a sixth goal for the Dons.
