When Gordon Strachan scored his 100th goal for the club, from the penalty spot after Neale Cooper was fouled, the game was as good as won. However, St. Mirren dug in and refused to be overrun, and it took a late strike by 'supersub' John Hewitt to finally kill them off. The result put 'The Dons' out in front 6 points clear of their nearest rivals.
