Dons Win Despite Two Missed Penalties
Aberdeen eventually saw off the challange of Alloa in the Scottish Cup 3rd round tie, despite missing two penalties on the way. The game started well for the Dons, and after only 13 minutes, good work by Young and Stavrum helped set up DAVID ROWSON, who fired in a 30 yard shot which after a deflection ended up in the net, making it 1-0 to the Dons.

David Preece took over from Esson in the Don's goal, and despite not having much to do, he showed that he could challange Esson for a first team place.
Aberdeen were gifted a great opportunity to make it 2-0 just before the break (43), when Cairns brought down Stavrum. Solberg stepped up, but Cairns saved his penalty. The ex-Partick Thistle keeper was later stretchered off to be replaced by McQueen in the Alloa goal.

In the 57th minute Robbie Winters was pulled down in the area to hand the Dons a second penalty opportunity. This time Stavrum stepped up, but he fired his shot over the bar.

The game looked likely to finish 1-0, but with 3 minutes left, Aberdeen finally grabbed a second. ROBBIE WINTERS was on hand to all but settle the outcome of the match. Two minutes later, DARREN MACKIE showed that he has what it takes to be a first team regular, when he grabbed the Don's third game to put the game beyond any doubt.
Aberdeen now look forward to the challange of Rangers at Ibrox on wednesday night in the SPL.
